
Barron Tanay

Barron Tanay was named Head Baseball Coach at Silas High School in 2023 and has quickly established the Rams as a competitive program in both the former Pierce County League and newly minted Puget Sound League. Through the 2025 season, Tanay has compiled a 42–25 overall record and a 30–10 league record while leading Silas to District playoff appearances in each of his first three seasons. The Rams captured a share of the PCL Championship in 2023 and qualified for the WIAA State Tournament in both 2023 and 2024.
During Tanay’s tenure, Silas players have earned significant individual recognition, including 24 All-League selections (10 First Team, 10 Second Team, and 4 Honorable Mention). In 2024, Carter Lystra was named the Pierce County League MVP. Tanay has also helped eight players continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level.
A Tacoma native, Tanay attended Stadium High School where he was a two-time Coaches Award recipient and was voted team captain during his senior season before earning a scholarship to pitch at Green River College.
Tanay began his coaching career in 2016 with Rock Creek Select Baseball, coaching a 13U team that finished second in the Seattle Elite League during his first season. He later served as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Stadium High School in 2022 and has worked as a baseball instructor at the Mariners Training Center since 2024.
During the summer, Tanay coaches with Tacoma Baseball Club, where he serves as an assistant coach under Nico Marchio for the TBC College Prep 17U team. He has held that role for the past two seasons and will return again this summer, helping prepare players for collegiate baseball opportunities.
In addition to coaching, Tanay has remained active in competitive baseball, managing and playing for a men’s league team since 2015. His teams have won three league championships across the Roy Hobbs, NABA, and PSSBL leagues.
Tanay’s philosophy centers on building a disciplined, competitive program where players take pride in representing Silas Baseball. His teams emphasize preparation, emotional maturity, and a selfless approach to the game while developing players who compete with toughness and handle adversity with confidence.
At Silas, the standard is simple: compete relentlessly, support your teammates, and represent the program with pride both on and off the field.

Nico Marchio -
Since 2021, Coach Nico has helped lead teams to nine championships across middle school and elite travel baseball, while developing players from youth levels through collegiate competition.
Nico played four years of collegiate baseball at Saint Martin’s University from 2016–2020. Competing at the collegiate level helped shape his deep understanding of the game, emphasizing fundamentals, preparation, and competitive development.
After his playing career, Nico transitioned into coaching. He began his head coaching career in the spring of 2021 with All Things Baseball, leading the 10U team known as the “Angels” for two seasons, setting the stage for his player development philosophy and love for coaching.
He served as the JV Coach at Stadium High School in 2022 and coached at Mason Middle School during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. At Mason, he led the program to back-to-back Tacoma Middle School Championships, compiling a perfect 19–0 record.
Nico then became the Junior Varsity Head Coach at Curtis High School for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Competing in one of the most competitive high school baseball leagues in the state. He guided the Curtis JV program to a 24–15–1 overall record, helping develop players and prepare them for success at the varsity level.
In travel baseball, Nico served as the Head Coach for Reality Sports 18U from 2022–2024, where his teams won two championships.
He is entering his fourth-year coaching with Tacoma Baseball Club, working with teams ranging from 14U–17U. During his time with the program, his teams have won five championships, including an impressive stretch where four championships were won in a single summer, with Coach Barron Tanay serving as his assistant, highlighting the program’s competitiveness and consistency.
In addition to team coaching, Nico has spent the past four years as the Lead Instructor at the Mariners Training Center. This is where he works with players of all ages focusing on all-around skill development, defensive training, hitting mechanics, and overall game preparation.
With experience spanning youth, middle school, high school, travel, and collegiate baseball, Nico is committed to developing confident, fundamentally sound players while preparing them to compete at the next level.

Josh White
Josh White is a dedicated baseball coach and active player with a lifelong passion for the game. Currently, he serves as the Head JV Coach for the Silas Rams and has spent the past two seasons as the Middle School Varsity Head Coach at Meeker Middle School, leading the program to back-to-back championship game appearances. Prior to his school coaching experience, Josh spent over four years coaching youth and select baseball with Metro Parks and S&S Baseball Club, helping develop players at multiple levels of competition.
Josh’s playing career spans from youth baseball through high school and into adulthood. He played high school and select baseball with the Tacoma Spartans and Tacoma Grizzlies, where the Spartans captured three consecutive championships. During that run, Josh was selected to pitch in the All-Star Game at Cheney Stadium, one of the region’s premier showcases for select players.
Throughout his playing career, Josh has primarily played pitcher, while also contributing at third base and first base. His performance on the field has earned him multiple pitching awards, MVP honors, and batting titles, totaling eight or more individual trophies recognizing his impact and success.
Today, Josh continues to compete as a pitcher with the Seattle Knights of the National Adult Baseball Association (NABA), where he has earned multiple MVP and pitching titles while continuing to demonstrate his love for the game.
As a coach, Josh specializes in pitching development, hitting instruction, team building, and baseball IQ, focusing on helping players understand not just how to play the game, but how to think the game. His coaching philosophy centers on developing fundamentally sound athletes who compete with confidence and discipline.
Josh believes that success in baseball goes beyond the scoreboard.
“My goal as a baseball coach is to develop fundamentally sound players who compete with confidence, discipline, and respect for the game. I prioritize effort, teamwork, and growth, believing that success is measured not only by wins but by the character built along the way.”
Josh looks forward to continuing to build strong programs and helping lead the Silas Rams JV team toward a championship while continuing his mission of developing the next generation of baseball players.
