The Mike Naef Scholarship is available to graduating Silas High School senior baseball players and honors the legacy and excellence of past Rams baseball achievements. Applicants are required to complete an application that highlights both their academic and athletic accomplishments, along with historical program context. This includes references to the 1981 Wilson Rams baseball season, such as Kingdome championship program materials, team photos, and archival clips from the Tacoma News Tribune during the state playoffs. That remarkable 1981 team finished with a 23–5 record and earned the AAA State Runner-Up title, winning four consecutive state playoff games in dramatic fashion after trailing into the final inning to reach the Kingdome championship game, where they narrowly fell 5–4 to Moses Lake. The team’s success was further underscored by six First Team All-League players and two future MLB draftees, setting a standard of excellence that this scholarship aims to recognize and continue.
